As an artist working in applied arts, I concentrate on the function of my work. I aim at creating friendly yet thought-provoking objects for daily use.
I believe that good crafted objects can touch the soul. A teapot can recall the fragility of life each time we pour our tea, or a Vanitas subject on our breakfast plate may keep us from being too vain.

My work ethic is based on the credo of
the Art and Crafts movement at the end of the 19th Century. I share their belief that hand made objects create a bond with the user. I hope that my customers develop a special relationship to the pieces that I make for them. Arts and Crafts stood also for man versus machine, and the slavery to it. Today the term 'hand crafted' tend to refer to objects made in poor countries by unqualified labor force, sometimes children, working often in bad conditions and at low salaries.

Making all my ceramics myself enables me to create unique art pieces, instead of the disposable pottery mostly available today. I would be very happy to see my work handed down from generation to generation.

Basically I do what I like and i like what I do ...
